Grade II Listed Building Survey

Listed Building Church Lodge Church Road Lytham

Record The Condition of Grade II Listed Buildings With Historic England

There are thousands of Grade 2 listed buildings across the country and an exciting project is beginning for volunteers to  survey their condition.

Historic England do not have the staff to manage this themselves but need to know how many buildings are at risk.

Civic Societies are very involved in this and training  is  being  given. Let  us  know  ASAP if you’d like to  join  in with a project  being  run jointly between Blackpool, Fleetwood and LSA Civic  Societies, due to start this autumn.

What's Involved?

Historic England said:

Our condition survey will prompt you to consider a range of building elements such as the roof, windows and walls. You’ll record your assessment of these, together with your judgement of the overall condition, using an online form or our app.

There will be two ways to submit your assessments:

  • You’ll carry out your assessments on your mobile phone or a tablet using the app which will be made available when the national project is under way.
  • Or, you’ll print out forms to fill in and then submit your assessment on the website later.

Once your assessment is online, it will be shared with local planning authorities to help them identify those Grade II buildings most in need.
